The games against Spalding and Skegness proved to be rather too much and losses of 73 – 97 and 83 – 115 respectively were best forgotten!
However, a good second win against Long Sutton 95 – 81 restored some pride.
D Stobart, with R Barnes, P Bacon and L Davies took control mid way through and were good winners 20 – 14.
D Chandley’s set of D Hocking, T Harding and R Workman had a tight game but just lost out 15 – 18 at the end.
T Stanley, with R Croyman, C Grosse and G Johnson came from behind at the half-way mark with some sustained pressure scoring 15 without reply to run out clear winners at 24 – 16.
M Wareham’s set of PLowder, P Annison and A Horne never quite got their noses in front after a poor start and lost out 14 – 18.
A Bristow’ set of F Collin, J Thomas and R Pearson shot into a magnificent lead 17 – 1, but were pegged back a shade, but still won a creditable 22 – 15.
24th October saw a visit to Long Sutton and a good win 103 – 97 on a notoriously difficult rink.
A Bristow, with C Grosse, K Whiteside and R Pearson seemed well in control at the 17th, but a recovery by the home team 0f 8 shots in the final ends saw Sleaford lose out 22 – 24.
M Wareham’s set of A Clarke, J Thomas and H Smythe were always just behind in a tight game and just lost out 15 – 20.
D Stobart, with K Dye, P Bacon and L Davies on arguably the hardest rink, stormed into a match-winning 20 – 10.
D Chandley’s set of D Hocking, T Harding and R Workman sealed the match with a magnificent 5 on the last end to win 26 – 17.
T Stanley. with P Annison, B Gilbert and G Johnson were well min command at the 15th end but then dropped 16 shots without reply to go down a disappointing 17 – 26.
A visit to Stamford on 9th October proved rather a different matter!
D Stobart, with R Washbrook, P Bacon and L Davies started well enough, going 13-up after 7 ends with no reply, but then seemed to lose their way a little but still held on for a 20 – 11 win.
T Stanley, with G Glover, T Thackray and G Johnson found the pace difficult and went down 14 – 22.
A Bristow, with K Whiteside, C Grosse and P Annison were unable to sustain an attack and lost out 11 – 25.
M Wareham’s set of A Clark, K Dye and A Horne were unable to make more than singles and lost out 11 – 25.
R Workman, with D Hocking, T Harding and Thomas did not manage to get woods where it hurt and lost out 8 – 28.
On the 25th September, Skegness came to Sleaford and were well, beaten on all rinks.
M Wareham. set of A Clarke, J Thomas and A Horne ran out easy winners, 39- 19.
A Bristow, with K Whiteside, C Grosse and R Pearson dropped just 6 ends to win 30 – 15.
D Stobart’s set of B Coyne, P Bacon and L Davies came from behind to record a good win 24 – 14.
T Stanley led his set of C Faria, P Annison and G Johnson to a good 225 – 15 win.
D Chandley, with D Hocking, T Harding and R Workman outplayed their opponents and won 26 -14.
The first game of the new season saw a magnificent win against local rivals, Grantham, 114 – 76.
D Chandley’s set of D Hocking, T Harding and R Workman stormed into a 20 – 0 lead and then carried on to run out clear winners 30 – 9.
F Colin, with R Barnes, P Annison and G Johnson were involved in a tig5hter game, but ran our winners at 17-14.
D Stobart’s team of K Searle, P Bacon and L Davies just did not get enough early woods into the head, and lost out 16 – 26.
A Bristow’s set of A Clarke, K Dye and A Horne scored consistently heavily and ran out easy winners at30 – 9.
M Wareham led C Faria, C Grosse and J Thomas came from behind towards the end and ran out worthy winners at 21 – 18.
