The
Friendly Team were in winning ways against Horncastle. Team
Captain Colin Thomas, with the support of his set of Carole
Richardson, Sheila Pratt and Lorraine Falkingham got away to a
spectacular 22 – 6 lead and finished 27 – 13 winners. Lily Searle’s
set of Chris Fox, May Herbert and John Richardson were equally
impressive to run out clear winners 26 – 17. Pauline Hansen, with
Irene Ansell, Colin Underwood and Wilf King tore into a 16 – 6 lead
but were pegged back over the final third but still hung on to win
20 - 15. Noel Herbert, with Monica Dabbs, Janet Underwood and Yvonne
Paul had a close encounter losing 16 – 17 in a close-fought battle.
Josie Naylor’s set of Edith Scott, Mike Dabbs and Goff Law seemed to
have set themselves up nicely at 10 – 1, but fell away to lose out
20 – 24. A continuing good season for this team!
The A
Team were at home to strong rivals Lincoln with P Roberts and
his set of P Annison, L Bonello and A Bristow running out easy
winners at 26 – 15. R Musson, with P Asher, D Stobart and B Briggs
struggled all the way to go down 11 – 21. Club Captain Alan Watts,
with R Barnes, P Robins and C Bradley continued winning ways by
leading all the way to a magnificent 23 – 10 victory. D Chandley,
with J Scott, K Callow and J Cave were in a good fight with the lead
changing hands several times to triumph 19 - 1 5. T Bannister’s set
of I Cliff, T Hudson and T Stanley never looked at peace with
themselves and lost 14 – 22.
Meanwhile, the B Team travelled to Grantham and were soundly
trounced on all but one rink. Team Captain G Johnston’s rink of K
Searle, D Barr and T Dwyer made little headway on a “different”
carpet and lost 11 – 28. D Stobart’s set of J Thomas, T Thackery and
B Overton made a real fight of it coming from behind at the death to
win 17 – 16. A Naismith’s set of T Curran, M Dunne and D Fisher did
all the hard work to level at the mid-point only to fade away to
lose 16 – 22. B Cooper’s set of R Sach, T Harding and P Fox were
behind all the way and lost 15 – 20.
C Faria and his set of J Baker, J Houlden and R Barnes, apart
from an early 5, were well beaten by 19 – 24.
A disappointing loss overall by 32 shots and only two points
gained.
